I first made this when I worked in a pub in Manchester. Tastes like the best ice cream you ever had and goes down smoothly. Careful, it's stronger than you think! Make sure you add the shots in the right order - if you do it in the wrong order, they may not mix and will look awful.

This recipe is for making your own liqueur but be patient - it takes a few weeks before you can use it. You will need a wide neck jar for this too. You get the added bonus of some deliciously preserved boozy apricots too. Eat the fruit separately, warmed through and served with brandy snaps and ice cream.

A lovely treat at the end of a nice meal or after Christmas dinner! Freshly brewed coffee gets a little added zip from Irish whisky and Baileys.

The basic drink that everyone loves - the daiquiri. Fancy enough for guests, good tasting enough for any day of the week.

A fabulous sweet little shooter, this bubblegum flavour, powder-blue shot makes a great party starter or a delicious night cap nip! A big hit in the Canadian Arctic bar I spent a summer propping up the bar in... my girly refusal to chug a shot of whisky meant the barman and I devised this little gem. I hear it's still on the menu now!

The old German classic Christmas and winter warmer. Boozy, spicy and indulgent. Similar to the British mulled wine. Great at a Christmas dinner party or for Bonfire Night as a winter warmer.

Bisschopswijn, meaning 'bishop's wine', is the Dutch version of the German gluehwein, a hot drink for snowy holidays that makes you glow inside. Don't drink this if you have to drive tonight! Each household has its own variety, this is the one my Dutch neighbors used to make when I was a kid in Amsterdam, for Christmas and New Year's Eve.
