These little nibbles feature cherry tomatoes stuffed with a cool mixture of mayo, bacon and spring onion. They look great arranged on a platter of rocket.

This recipe is handed down from my mum's mum. This is NOT a dessert (not sweet), but more like a 'quick bread' for the Chinese. This 'cake' is usually made and eaten during the Chinese New Year or its slices are usually found all year round as dim sum in Chinese restaurants. This cake can be kept for 1 week in the fridge (but usually it's finished within a day!!)

This is an olive dip that makes for a great starter or to serve as a topping on meat. Cut little baguettes into small rounds for dipping. You can use bread sticks, crackers, sliced peppers or other veggies for dipping as well.

Snails are sautéed in garlic butter and stuffed in mushroom caps. When grilling the mushroom caps, be careful they don't shrivel or burn.

It is a recipe given to me some years ago by a friend when we were chatting about using up left over turkey. I usually serve it with pickled red cabbage (shop bought), and crispbreads.

These are grape leaves, stuffed with a tantalising mixture of rice, fresh dill, mint and lemon. 'Yum' is the only one word to describe these. These can either be a main dish or a starter, depending on your appetite. Serve with good crusty bread and a Greek salad, if desired.

This is a quick, garlicky Mediterranean olive spread. Similar to the French tapenade, but without capers. Excellent served with good crusty bread.

A brilliantly different starter or snack. Made from minced beef, lamb, pork or turkey served rolled in a large lettuce leaf.

I always have roasted garlic on hand - it is great on its own with some crusty bread, and also delicious in everyday recipes like soups, stews, houmous and tzatziki.

Filled with a delicious combination of finely chopped courgette, spinach and hazelnuts, then topped with grated Parmesan cheese and baked, these mushrooms make a very tasty, hard-to-resist party bite. They look their best if the mushrooms used are all about the same size.

Yakitori is delicious Japanese street food, most commonly chicken (and chicken offal) barbecued over charcoals. This is a simple yakitori marinade recipe, which you can use to marinate chicken before barbecuing it.
