Perfect for feeding a crowd at a summer barbecue, this is a tasty twist on the classic American recipe for baked beans. The variety of beans used gives the dish great flavour, along with the streaky bacon. Try this for a break from the ordinary. If you don't have French's mustard to hand, substitute half a tablespoon of English mustard.

This is a dish from the Eastern seaboard of America, where the pork and beans are traditionally simmered slowly in an earthenware casserole. It is the kind of dish that you can prepare ahead and leave to bubble away while you tend to other things. Baked jacket potatoes and crusty bread are perfect for soaking up the delicious sauce.

Packed with flavour and texture, this stuffing is also low in fat and high in fibre and carbohydrate.

In this dish, three favourite breakfast ingredients – bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes – are cooked on skewers with new potatoes and patty pan squash. The kebabs are served on toasted ciabatta with a refreshing citrus salad. Enjoy them for brunch at the weekend or as a mid-week supper.

Use a speciality sliced ham to give this straightforward and comforting bake of waxy potatoes and Gruyère cheese the best flavour. Layer the prepared ingredients, then sit back and relax while it cooks. Serve with a green salad. Delicious!

This is a traditional Chinese sweet rice recipe that is usually served for the Chinese New Year. This recipe was handed down to me from my dad who liked to eat this alone as a main dish, so it's a little heartier than most other sweet rice recipes. For those of you who know what Chinese sweet rice is, this is the most delicious recipe yet!

Not just for Christmas! This is a great recipe that I was shown how to make, it uses the "All trimmings" from a Christmas dinner to make a great roulade, either serve it into portions for a main course on its own or cut it into smaller portions to have at the side with your turkey! It is basically layered bacon, suasage meat and stuffing rolled into a log and baked for 40 mins really simple. the flavours of the bacon and sausage infuse with the stuffing, really yummy!

Cabbage and onions, cooked in bacon fat, and served with a splash of cider vinegar – not exactly healthy, but very tasty!

Really tasty and really easy to make. They take a bit of time but they are worth it. They don't last 5 minutes in this house.

We found this a lovely alternative to the sausage option and the port makes it really special! It is best to marinate the apricots in the port over night for the best flavour. Can be prepared up to two days in advance and chilled once apricots are rolled in bacon. We also served just the apricots in port at the table for our vegetarian friends.

Baked potatoes are halved and filled with cheesey mashed potato and bacon, and finished off with a mast. I serve these on a 'sea' of lettuce in an attempt to get my children to eat some veg!

A warming autumnal dish of roasted root vegetables with aubergines, pears and bacon. Roasting brings out the sweetness of the vegetables and, unlike boiling, retains all the goodness.

Fresh rosemary stalks make excellent skewers and flavour the ingredients they hold (you can use metal skewers if you prefer). This is a stylish way of cooking and serving simple, healthy ingredients. Serve with a leafy salad.
