Pitta is spread with cream cheese, and rolled with a slice of bacon. They come out of the oven warm and crispy. Make sure you get the first one because they don't last long!

A delicious, very easy to make, suet pastry pudding. This is my mum's recipe. I usually serve it with shredded cabbage and mash - pure comfort food!

You can cook the pancakes well in advance. The pancake batter can be made up to a day ahead and kept, covered, in the frige. Cooked pancakes can be made up to three days ahead, stacked between sheets of greaseproof paper and wrapped in cling film: store in the frige or freezer. If pancakes are prepared ahead, assemble the whole dish, then bake just before serving. The pancakes are made with half wholemeal flour to be light yet higher in fibre.

This open sandwich of toasted ciabatta bread with a mixed pepper topping is typical of the style of food enjoyed in Mediterranean countries, where bread, along with plenty of fruit and vegetables, is a mainstay of the diet. A little chorizo sausage adds a spicy note to the sweet pepper mix.

This is the perfect midweek supper fix. Instead of using a toastie maker, the toasties are dipped in egg and pan fried. Comforting, quick and delicious!

The flavours of smoky, dry-cured Black Forest ham, shiitake and chestnut mushrooms, and courgettes work well with wild rice in the filling for these delicious filo pastries. If you're looking for an interesting lunch dish, this recipe certainly fits the bill and just needs a side salad to serve with it.

Sweet leeks, aromatic basil and savoury Parma ham combine with mozzarella cheese to make a sophisticated pizza-style topping for wholemeal muffins. For a crisp and refreshing contrast, serve with a simple salad of watercress sprigs and coarsely grated carrot tossed with extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice.

Made mainly from storecupboard ingredients, these mini pizzas are incredibly quick and easy to prepare. Topped with tasty ham, luscious pineapple and sweet corn kernels, they make a tasty snack and are much lower in salt than most bought pizzas.

I came up with this sandwich when my husband wanted a ham and cheese toastie, but I decided to experiment with some ingredients from the fridge. He absolutely loved it!

I have loved so many recipes on this site - I thought I would share one that I love! My mum has made this sausage stuffing every Christmas of my life. Recently I made it for my husband and he loved it too. It is delicious with roast pork, roast potatoes and green veg. Great with leftover turkey and cranberry sauce on boxing day, too!

This stuffing is gorgeous! It is very flavourful and fresh-tasting. This recipe will stuff a large turkey (which serves six) plus extra. Other dried fruits may be used in place of cranberries.

Use good quality sausages, any flavour you like! Cook them in Yorkshire pudding batter to make this traditional dish that children love. Don't forget the gravy!

This recipe makes a huge batch - around 150 wontons. The great thing is you can freeze them. Wonton noodle soup is a traditional Cantonese meal served as a hearty breakfast or lunch. These wontons, made from seasoned pork and prawns, are the actual dumplings served with noodles and chicken stock. 'Dashi' - or fish flakes - is an optional ingredient, but adds wonderful flavour. The wrappers or skins are smaller than spring roll wrappers and can be bought fresh or frozen from Asian shops.

Yorkshire pudding is a favourite accompaniment to a Sunday roast, but why not enjoy it midweek too, as a main dish? Here it is baked in individual tins, with a savoury pork and vegetable filling. Serve with mashed potatoes mixed with lightly cooked shredded Brussels sprouts for a delicious, well-balanced meal.
