Made from thinly sliced pork fillet, fresh ginger, spring onions and Chinese noodles. It is quick and easy to prepare, and makes a great first course for a dinner party.

Succulent chunks of pork, coated in a spicy yoghurt marinade, are baked then simmered in a light, lemony coconut broth. Try serving with plain boiled rice.

Asian ingredients give these barbecued chops loads of flavour. They can also be put in the oven and grilled.

Cucumber and yoghurt provide a cooling contrast to pork escalopes rolled around a hot, ginger-spiced stuffing. Try serving with boiled rice, steamed green beans and Ratatouille Chinese-Style (on this website).

A hoisin and soy marinade adds rich colour and an Oriental flavour to roasted pork. Try serving with ribbons of carrots, courgettes and spring onions stir-fried in chicken stock with a little oyster sauce, tossed with egg thread noodles.

This is the Filipino version of spring rolls. You can find lumpia wrappers in Asian supermarkets wherever they keep their frozen food.

Spareribs glazed with the sweet, tangy taste of the Philippines. One of the honey coating ingredients, star anise, is native to China; it is a star-shaped, dark brown pod that contains a pea-sized seed in each of its eight segments.

The simple Oriental technique of stir-frying is perfect for preparing meals in a hurry. It is also a great healthy cooking method because it uses just a small amount of oil and cooks vegetables quickly so that most of their beneficial vitamins and minerals are preserved.

The longer you marinade pork chops in this garlicky, gingery mixture the better the results. You can bake the chops with a sesame and breadcrumb crust, or you can skip this step and go straight to the barbecue. Use light soy sauce, if you prefer.

It's so easy and tasty you'll make it for dinner tonight. If you make it for a party, I assure you everybody will love it! To add more colour, you could sautee pork with julienne red pepper and onion slices. That'll make this dish look a bit fancier.

A mixture of green vegetables adds colour, crispness and food value to this simple noodle stir-fry with pork and dried mushrooms. Chinese egg noodles are prepared more quickly than Western pasta – they only need brief soaking – so this dish can be made from start to finish in less than 30 minutes.

This is a versatile recipe that you can alter to your taste. Sometimes I use cabbage and plum sauce and it works really well too. The filling is normally served in Chinese pancakes, but I prefer it in tortilla wraps.

Aromatic rice and pork meatballs and lots of interesting vegetables bring Oriental flavours to this satisfying main-meal soup. Serve it at the table in a warmed tureen or straight from the pan.

Crunchy water chestnuts are combined with minced pork, soy sauce, fresh ginger and five-spice powder to make a flavoursome, Oriental-style filling for fresh green cabbage leaves. Serve with steamed white rice and a simple red pepper, chicory and onion salad for a quick-and-easy family meal.

Nori is the Japanese word for dried seaweed. I have adapted it several times to be made quickly with ingredients found in most large supermarkets.
