Make the most of aromatic, golden apricots when they're in season by using them in this attractive tart. It has a sweet orange shortcrust base and is topped with a crumbled flapjack-style mixture of oats, sultanas, hazelnuts and seeds. Serve slightly warm for dessert or with morning coffee or afternoon tea. The recipe for sweet shortcrust pastry is separate. Look in the notes section for how to make orange sweetcrust pastry.

Naturally sweet and moist, these make a great addition to a packed lunch. They are also a good way of getting the family to try some more unusual grains and seeds, and add new healthy ingredients to the diet.

These flapjacks have fibre from the oats and protein from the peanut butter - but your kids will just call them delicious! A great snack for kids when you want to give them something sweet that's still nutritious.
