I first made this when I worked in a pub in Manchester. Tastes like the best ice cream you ever had and goes down smoothly. Careful, it's stronger than you think! Make sure you add the shots in the right order - if you do it in the wrong order, they may not mix and will look awful.

Steak and Chips is a great British favourite. Here's a recipe that will ensure you get a really good, flavourful meal perfected through university. It's cheap to make, and you can get everything at Tesco's so it's not hard to get the ingredients either. You can either serve with gravy or peppercorn sauce, but I find gravy works a lot better. Serves two people.

So simple, but always gets raves! Add leftover steak, poultry or roast beef for a quick supper fix.

I strongly recommend using fresh brambles in this recipe for best flavour. Raspberries, strawberries or a combination of all three may be used, but they should all be fresh.

A recipe that has been handed down through my family - a very nice cake to have when you want to sit down on the couch with a cup of tea. Beats bought cakes any day

I'm a very, VERY basic eater and I don't do veg (except for the mighty potato) and spices are usually out of the window too. Bonanza Pie is just a nice way to jumble what I like into one dish. Those who have tried it have all reported back positively.

Try this breaded version of fish and chips with a more sustainable fish, such as pollock, seabass or red snapper.

A healthy way to enjoy the traditional British breakfast, grilled not fried, but with all the flavour of the original.

An autumnal salad to make the most of the squash season. Dorset Blue Vinney adds good, sharp flavour but is lower in fat than most cheeses, making this a healthy dish all round.

Forget about smothering toasted crumpets in butter; this low-fat topping is really yummy and much healthier. Lightly mashed bananas are mixed with creamy fromage frais and warm spices and piled onto crumpets, then finished by drizzling with honey and grilled until bubbling. It's the perfect quick sweet snack.

Slight adaptation of a microwave flapjack recipe from this website. The fruit was my idea and my daughter insisted on the marshmallows!

This is an interesting twist on the classic that my daughter made at school. It has now become a firm favourite in our house.

This is a brilliant refresher for hot summer days. You'll find food grade citric acid at a health food store or Asian market.
