I made this recipe up for my boyfriend who adores apples and pork. It's very easy and good served with roasted or baked potatoes and salad.

Mushrooms and bacon make a lovely pair. It can't get simpler than this recipe. Use cocktail sticks to hold the bacon in place while cooking. I usually have to make a double batch of this party favourite to satisfy our guests.

Here's a quick and simple recipe for delicious pork loin medallions or chops. All you do is baste the meat with a sauce of butter, lemon juice and garlic. Very basic, yet you won't believe how moist and flavourful the chops will be.

This tempting salad combines smoky ham, red onion, sweetcorn, canned black-eyed beans and lots of fresh coriander in a spicy soured cream dressing. For generous, meaty chunks of ham, buy pieces from the deli counter rather than thin pre-packed slices. Serve with tomato wedges and crusty fresh bread.

Pork has an undeserved reputation for being fatty. Modern breeding and butchery techniques mean that many cuts are now extremely lean.

In this colourful salad, the subtle flavour of spinach is enhanced by sweet melon and citrus, and Parma ham adds a savoury touch. You can prepare the dressing in advance, but only assemble the salad at the last moment to preserve as much vitamin C as possible. Serve with French or Italian bread as a light main dish.

Fennel seeds provide a sweet aniseed flavour that goes particularly well with pork. A side of spring cabbage or pak choi goes will go well with these, too.

Luscious ripe figs go so well with lean Parma ham, and make an elegant little starter salad. In this delectable version, the vitamin content is boosted with the addition of green beans and bulb fennel, plus some fresh pineapple for an unexpected touch of tangy sweetness.

Pears and sweet potatoes are delicious with gammon in this colourful casserole, and they make a relatively modest amount of meat seem more than enough. Serve with a mixture of lightly cooked broccoli and cauliflower and plenty of crusty French bread so you can enjoy every bit of the delectable sauce.

A dash of apple juice will add a little sweetness to the tangy sauerkraut in this one-pan German style dish. Caraway seeds are a must!
