Perfect for feeding a crowd at a summer barbecue, this is a tasty twist on the classic American recipe for baked beans. The variety of beans used gives the dish great flavour, along with the streaky bacon. Try this for a break from the ordinary. If you don't have French's mustard to hand, substitute half a tablespoon of English mustard.

I started making this dish a few years ago after apple picking with my children. I was looking for something different to do with some of the apples and this turned out to be delicious! We all enjoy it and hope your family does too.

I made this recipe up for my boyfriend who adores apples and pork. It's very easy and good served with roasted or baked potatoes and salad.

When our children were little my friend gave me this recipe which hides vegetables in the sauce; my children still love it as teenagers. It freezes very well so I am never without a quick meal to hand. It can be used on its own over pasta or with the addition of single cream makes a luxurious soup. A vegetarian version can be made without the bacon.

A wrap version of the sandwich that my kids seem to like better. I like them too! Sliced avocado is a nice addition.

A hoisin and soy marinade adds rich colour and an Oriental flavour to roasted pork. Try serving with ribbons of carrots, courgettes and spring onions stir-fried in chicken stock with a little oyster sauce, tossed with egg thread noodles.

I used to make these for kids packed lunches, they are tasty, quick and easy and freeze well. Also used to do them for picnics and parties.

Broaden your children's tea repertoire with this healthy version of a long-time favourite. Gammon steaks are quickly grilled, then topped with naturally sweet pineapple and glazed with mild mango chutney. Rice and mixed vegetables complete the meal, and a yummy orange sauce is drizzled over all.

A classic Scottish breakfast dish of smoked haddock (haddie), traditionally Finnan haddock, and bacon (ham). This recipe is lighter than the original, cooked with only a little butter and some half-fat crème fraîche.

Sweet leeks, aromatic basil and savoury Parma ham combine with mozzarella cheese to make a sophisticated pizza-style topping for wholemeal muffins. For a crisp and refreshing contrast, serve with a simple salad of watercress sprigs and coarsely grated carrot tossed with extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice.

A simple and cheap to make Sausage Stew with a slight twist. Easy to make this one pot meal - filling and tasty - if you prefer more spice just double the Cumin, Coriander, Mustard, Worcestershire Sauce, Tomato Puree and Garlic.

Made mainly from storecupboard ingredients, these mini pizzas are incredibly quick and easy to prepare. Topped with tasty ham, luscious pineapple and sweet corn kernels, they make a tasty snack and are much lower in salt than most bought pizzas.
