A delightful dessert that combines traditional bread pudding with apples and a crumbly streusel topping. If you want to roll out your own shortcrust pastry, use it to line a 23cm (9 in) baking dish.

Most traditional recipes for crème caramel are made with a sugar-based caramel and a rich creamy custard. The fruity version here uses apple juice both for the caramel and in the custard, thus reducing the fat and sugar content and making it dairy free. Served with blackberries, or another seasonal fruit, this is a delicious treat for family or friends.

The BEST kugel ever. I'm not Jewish but have a lot of Jewish friends and they love this recipe! Good as a side, breakfast, dessert or snack!

Just a plain and simple apple purée to serve with roast pork, or to use as a filling for pastries. Also lovely on top of yoghurt or ice cream.

This light, sweet omelette should be cooked just before serving, but can be prepared up to the end of step 2 an hour ahead. It's a simple yet delectable pudding to make in late summer/early autumn.

This glamorous version of bread and butter pudding is based on brioche, the French bread enriched with eggs and butter, and has an egg custard spiked with rum or brandy for a seductive flavour. Sultanas, dried apricots and apricot conserve provide lots of sweetness, so no sugar is needed.

Ideal for using up slightly stale bread, this hearty pudding includes dried apricots, although you could use currants or sultanas instead.

Bananas baked in a buttery orange syrup couldn't be simpler to make and they taste utterly divine. For an extra treat, add a splash of liqueur.

Use fresh and canned fruit to whip up a quick, healthy dessert like this one when you fancy something sweet to follow a meal. You can serve this sweet stir-fry plain with ice cream and yoghurt or use it as a tasty topping for waffles or crepes.

Try this Asian twist on regular banana fritters with sesame seeds and coconut. These are best served hot, but chances are they'll be gone before they have a moment to cool down. My kids request these all the time and I've started buying glutinous rice flour regularly just for this recipe!
