This is a traditional Chinese sweet rice recipe that is usually served for the Chinese New Year. This recipe was handed down to me from my dad who liked to eat this alone as a main dish, so it's a little heartier than most other sweet rice recipes. For those of you who know what Chinese sweet rice is, this is the most delicious recipe yet!

This recipe is handed down from my mum's mum. This is NOT a dessert (not sweet), but more like a 'quick bread' for the Chinese. This 'cake' is usually made and eaten during the Chinese New Year or its slices are usually found all year round as dim sum in Chinese restaurants. This cake can be kept for 1 week in the fridge (but usually it's finished within a day!!)

One of my favourite dishes when I head back home; it combines hard-boiled eggs with the subtle flavour of anise and the deep brown hues of black tea and soy. The cracked patterns from the broken shells make these quite attractive! I eat these sliced in quarters and chilled as a side dish, starter or snack. Recipe courtesy of Mum.

Quick and easy. Cooked rice is fried with egg, onion, green beans and soy sauce. A perfect way to use up leftover rice.

A salty, sweet and spicy marinade made with orange juice, soy sauce, ginger, dried chillies and sesame oil is used to make this baked tofu dish. Serve as a starter, or as a main with stir-fried broccoli and jasmine rice.

This is very spicy and full of flavour. I first tried this dish in a Korean restaurant. The red pepper flavour is the same that is used to make kimchi. After playing with the recipe, I discovered a flavour that my Korean boyfriend loves. You can also pour the sauce over lettuce to create a version of the Korean salad some restaurants serve.

This is a very common cold dish eaten all over China and it's very easy to prepare. Depends on your personal taste, you can choose to add more or omit the dried red chillies.
