If you use a ready made pastry case, this is a simple recipe to follow. The only problem is - the finished pie looks too good to eat!

These fried empanadas are the best! Sultanas and eggs make this recipe extra delicious believe it or not!

An original French recipe my mum used to bake. Great to eat with a salad during summer or even winter. Absolutely delicious!!! Can be prepared the day before and served as a starter or main dish. Can substitute Emmental for Gruyere cheese.

Guinea fowl cooked with shallots, ‘meaty’ chestnut mushrooms, peas and spinach in Madeira wine makes a great pie filling. In this modern version of a traditional favourite, the filling is baked in a pudding basin topped with a lovely, soft-textured potato pastry crust. Serve with Brussels sprouts and baby carrots.

I had a pie in a cafe which had some of the above ingredients and liked it but felt it was a little heave and rich. I have made my own lighter version which is tasty enough to not need any salt, which is good for everyone, not just people with heart problems.

I know most people buy these nowadays but they are easy to make if you use frozen pastry, plus you can vary the flavour. This recipe uses fresh chives and mustard. Grown-ups love them! For a birthday party, you can keep them plain or add grated Cheddar to the sausagemeat.

A good friend of mine gave me this recipe last Christmas. I have been using this recipe for dinner parties, coffee morning and simply having friends round for a cup of tea. This pie is particularly good for special occasions like birthday, anniversary or Valentine dinner.

This is a quick and easy favourite. You can roast whatever vegetables you like, the ones listed here are just a suggestion to get you started.

This pie is ABSOLUTELY the best meat pie I have ever had in my life! This recipe was found whilst I was on the train and found that somebody left it on the seat. So I took it. Then I made it. Thank you to who ever left it on the train! Sometimes, I just make the stew and serve with mashed spuds.
