This is a delicious recipe that I grew up on - a traditional Greek way to prepare lamb. Lamb and onion are browned in olive oil, then cooked with fresh green beans in a tomato sauce, lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. I've added my own touch with some fresh mint.

This zesty lemon and garlic marinade tenderises pork fillets beautifully before barbecuing. Slice thinly and serve in pitta with fresh tzatziki sauce.

This is a sweet lemony syrup for pouring over cakes, which is typical of Greek cuisine. You can also use this as an alternative to maple syrup on pancakes, or to drizzle over ice cream. It's very sweet so a little goes a long way!

These little meatballs, made from a mixture of minced lamb and rice, flavoured with thyme, lemon and nutmeg, are grilled on sticks for easy eating - a perfect party nibble. The classic Greek egg and lemon, or avgolemono, sauce has a tangy flavour, which is a perfect complement for the meatballs.

This is a quick, garlicky Mediterranean olive spread. Similar to the French tapenade, but without capers. Excellent served with good crusty bread.

Delicious and nutritious, roasted chickpeas make for a healthy snack. Roasted in the oven, these are a nice crunchy, high fibre alternative to nuts.

This is actually a traditional Greek cake called Revani. It's deceptively simple to make and the semolina provides a unique texture that's sure to impress guests. This cake is also dairy free.

This is an easy recipe for pitta bread. Use your bread machine to help the dough rise easily, otherwise - cover and let it rise in a warm place.

These pitta breads are delicious served freshly baked, warm from the oven. They make a good accompaniment to soups, dips and pâtés or they can be left to cool, then split and filled: try goat’s cheese with roasted vegetables and red onion rings; grilled meat and vegetables; or hummus and a crunchy mixed salad.
