This is the most popular of Greek soups. The name literally means 'egg and lemon', the two most important ingredients that produce this light and nourishing soup. Usually made with homemade chicken or fish stock, garnish this quick and easy version with fresh lemon slices.

Halloumi is a firm-textured Cypriot cheese that's delicious char-grilled. Here it's served with red onions on a bed of soft salad leaves, then drizzled with a hot dressing. Serve with good seeded crusty bread.

This is a delectable chicken dish from Kozani, a city and region in northern Greece. The prunes and onion lend sweetness, while the paprika offers a smoky flavour. Serve with steamed rice.

This traditional Greek meze could not be easier to make, yet it always impresses guests! All you need is a block of feta and some crushed red chillies. This is also great made on the barbecue wrapped in foil. Serve with good crusty bread.

This is a Greek recipe for prawn saganaki which is great as a starter or meze. It is a delicious dish that I'd only tried in restaurants, but when I tried to make it at home I found that I can make it just as well. Serve with nice crusty bread to mop up all the gorgeous sauce.

This is my own version of bifteki. They aren't usually made with cheese, but I find the feta makes them all the more tasty!. Serve on it's own with a Greek salad, or as burgers in a bap. These are also good baked in the oven.

These chicken pitas are packed with tasty salad leaves and a sauce made from cucumbers and yoghurt. They are incredibly easy to prepare, so when you are short of time, skip the fast food and try these instead.

This is a wonderful and easy preparation that is a hearty meal for the whole family. I often serve it over rice or orzo (rice-shaped pasta), with a nice tomato and cucumber salad and good bread. A simple, fresh and delicious taste of the Greek Isles!

Lamb and feta give these burgers a unique Mediterannean flavour. For an even stronger Greek touch, serve the burgers in large pitta breads with red onion rings, chunky cucumber slices and Greek-style yoghurt or bought tzatziki.

Cubes of lamb flavoured with a mixture of garlic, lemon and fresh oregano are cooked on skewers and served with a Greek-style tomato and cabbage salad and pitta bread for a deliciously aromatic main dish.

Fakes (pronounced 'Fah-kehs') is a staple in the Greek kitchen, and an especially filling and healthy meal. It is traditionally served with a drizzle of olive oil and lots of vinegar. Though the vinegar is of course optional, try it - it lifts the lentils and adds another dimension of flavour!

In Greece, roast meat (lamb, beef, chicken) and potatoes is ubiquitous throughout the year. Upon my most recent visit to Athens, my aunt let me in on a secret that takes this traditional dish to another level. Instead of the usual lemon juice, she said, add the juice of one orange. I tried this upon my return home and it is absolutely delicious! It may be awhile before I go back to lemons -- and this dish is as delicious as it is simple.

For a new twist on a traditional Greek salad, throw together ripe plum tomatoes, crisp veggies, feta cheese and Kalamata olives, then drizzle with a nutty tahini dressing and serve with seeded crusty bread. Delicious!

A summer classic. My version calls for tomatoes, olives, feta, peppers, onions and cucumbers, all sliced, chopped and tossed with a great dressing - red wine vinegar, olive oil, lemon juice and herbs.

This is the easy version of the classic Greek dish macaronatha, which is octopus in a delicious tomato-based sauce served over macaroni, then topped with grated sheep's milk cheese.

This is a quick and tasty dish that will definitely impress your guests. They will think you spent all day preparing this! Greek olives and fresh rosemary give it a lot of flavour!
