Black onion seeds (Kalonji) give this recipe a slightly pickled taste. They can be difficult to find but are essential to the recipe. Look in a local provision store run by an Indian and you should find them. Serve as a vegatable dish with other Indian recipes.

Ladoos are an Indian and Pakistani sweet. I added a twist to mine and included coconut...my family love these. They can be enjoyed at any occasion, as a treat during tea time, etc. And they're easy to make, in my opinion.

This curry is a fruit and nut curry which on cooking turns a wonderful dark colour. If you can resist it for a day it improves with sitting. Very rounded flavour and as spicy as you wish. You can use left over roast beef Joint instead of raw beef if you want.

This recipe hails from North India. My mum uses just the right amount of spices to suit all. They're great as a main, sandwich filler or for picnics. Leftovers can be frozen.

This traditional Indian chicken and garlic dish, marinated overnight in a spicy yoghurt mixture, was suggested to me by my friend from Mumbai. It is creamy and full of flavour. Serve with rice, roti or naan.
