Colcannon is a simple, warming Irish potato dish, combining mashed potatoes with shredded cooked cabbage and chopped spring onions. I know most people buy these nowadays but they are easy to make if you use frozen pastry, plus you can vary the flavour. This recipe uses fresh chives and mustard. Grown-ups love them! For a birthday party, you can keep them plain or add grated Cheddar to the sausagemeat.

This pie is ABSOLUTELY the best meat pie I have ever had in my life! This recipe was found whilst I was on the train and found that somebody left it on the seat. So I took it. Then I made it. Thank you to who ever left it on the train! Sometimes, I just make the stew and serve with mashed spuds.
