This was a childhood memory that I was craving, so I called my nanny and she gave the recipe to me. The second I tasted it, I was flushed with happy thoughts. Enjoy with slices of apples for a healthy snack! Be creative: You can add peanut butter, nuts or chocolate sauce. Have fun and enjoy!

The ultimate version of a peanut butter sandwich takes some good hearty bread packed with sesame and sunflower seeds, with sweet mashed banana as a perfect partner for the peanuts. Serve with crisp apple or fresh, juicy pineapple wedges for extra fruit value.

This banana smoothie is a lovely drink on a nice summer day. This is an especially healthy drink to serve at children's parties as an alternative to fizzy sugary drinks.

This is a great smoothie consisting of fruit, fruit juice and ice. I like to use whatever fresh fruits are in season. Any kind of berry, mangos, papayas, kiwi fruit - all make a great smoothie. Experiment with your favourites!

This is a very widespread snack in the Balkans. I've eaten this in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia and Bosnia - Turkey has got something similar too.

Forget about smothering toasted crumpets in butter; this low-fat topping is really yummy and much healthier. Lightly mashed bananas are mixed with creamy fromage frais and warm spices and piled onto crumpets, then finished by drizzling with honey and grilled until bubbling. It's the perfect quick sweet snack.

Champ is an Irish dish of mashed potatoes and leeks, and here the tomato dressing adds colour as well as vitamins. Potatoes, in this dish unpeeled, contain their best source of fibre and nutrients in and just under the skin.

There are many versions of Welsh rarebit (or rabbit). The one here is richly flavoured with mature Cheddar cheese and thickened with breadcrumbs to add texture, and is spooned over thinly sliced red onions before being grilled until golden and bubbling. A spinach, apple and celery salad is the perfect partner.
