This is a basic recipe for a yeast dough: Make it into rolls, a base for focaccia or simply a loaf. Also perfect for making baps.

The trick is to boil before baking! This makes an excellent batch of plain bagels that you can enhance with sesame seeds or poppy seeds.

This light Italian flat bread is prepared from a soft dough enriched with olive oil. Extra olive oil is traditionally sprinkled over the dough before baking – sometimes in generous quantities – but this recipe uses just enough to give a good texture and flavour. Focaccia makes an ideal accompaniment to Italian meats, cheeses and salads.

This is a heavenly alternative to any shop-bought French stick. Perfect eaten fresh from oven or used to make sandwiches or garlic bread.

Nothing beats the smell of fresh-baked granary bread! This recipe is easy with Hovis granary flour. I use a mixture of white and granary flours, but some people prefer to use all granary or granary and wholemeal.

I came up with this recipe for wheaten bread because I really enjoy the density of the bread, but prefer it to be a little less dry. My husband loves this bread with a bowl of tomato and lentil soup or with butter and cheese or with marmalade. It really is so easy to make and comes out perfectly every time! I hope you will enjoy it too!

Tortillas, either made from wheat flour or cornmeal, are the basic bread that accompanies almost every meal in Mexico. These flour tortillas are easy to make and they have a multitude of uses – serve with meals in place of bread, make wraps with sandwich fillings, or roll round a savoury mixture, sprinkle with cheese and bake.

They're soft, sticky and full of flavour. I adapted them from Todd Wilburs Recipe for cinnabon cinnamon rolls. I make mine in muffin cases in muffin tins as there is less washing up, they are less messy to eat and easier to take with you.

This recipe happened one night when I was making white rolls and I ran out of flour. All I had left was wholemeal flour, and luckily for me, it worked out well.
