This is the original Lebanese recipe which is found in the Middle East in places like Lebanon and in Lebanese restaurants. It tastes delicious and is healthy because you don't use the chicken skin. If you make it, I'd like to know what you think

This recipe is good for the health. Tip: To always have fresh ginger on hand for a recipe, you can freeze it either peeled or unpeeled.

Chicken pie has always been a favourite of mine. From the cheap frozen ones I ate as a child to this: a creamy version with mushrooms and leeks, topped with puff pastry. I suppose that actually makes it a pot pie, the fact that it just has a pastry topping and no bottom. What's in a name though: it's still delicious.

A healthy, quick and easy family meal, this combines ready-cooked chicken and wholewheat pasta in a cheesy sauce. Including little broccoli florets is a great way to encourage children to enjoy this super-nourishing vegetable as part of a five-a-day target.

A little spicy chorizo goes a long way and adds a fabulous flavour to this colourful rice and vegetable dish. Camargue red rice is especially nutritious, with a higher fibre content even than brown rice, and a wonderful nutty texture.

Risotto is comfort food at its best, and you can ring the changes by adding almost any ingredients you have to hand. This one uses a selection of chicken, pancetta, leeks and courgettes.

A good pie is perfect comfort food, and this one is no exception. For a healthy balance, serve with plenty of seasonal greens.

There are a hundred different ways to cook chicken curry, but Bengalis (from the eastern part of India) make something called Kosha (or kawshaa) which is very good with either rice or any kind of flat bread. This recipe is called moorgi kosha (or chicken kosha), but my friend Jennie calls it Chicken Chicken Curry!

This is a lovely dish, looks and tastes great! I use a shop bought flan case, so it saves a lot of time! This is a very impressive dish and you can have people guessing whether you made the flan case yourself or not - which I have been asked, and been HONEST! But it's what's in it that really matters!

A spicy authentic East Indian speciality! Try making your own curry for a change - you won't regret it. The vindaloo paste can also be made ahead of time, covered and put in the fridge, to save cooking time.

The ultimate winter warmer. Chicken, white wine and a multitude of vegetables simmer until the vegetables are cooked to your liking. Use a half a chicken, a whole small chicken or chicken pieces.

I devised this recipe whilst suffering from a horrible stinker of a cold. If you're making this and don't have a cold, you may want to crank the seasoning (especially the chillies) down a bit, as I'd hate to be responsible for blowing the top of your head off. Anyway, it's full of vegetables and things with antiseptic properties and vitamins and good stuff. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice might be good at the end, as well.

From the Deep South of the USA comes this piquant gumbo with rice, chicken, prawns and vegetables, a cross between a soup and a stew – a filling feast in a bowl. The sliced okra not only contributes towards your five-a-day, but gives the gumbo its traditional thickened texture.

My dad used to cook this at parties and it was quite famous. Sadly he died a couple of years ago so now I carry on the tradition. It is nice served with loads of mango chutney and it can be cooked in the oven if it's raining : (

This is the recipe you've been looking for! It makes a perfect sesame chicken. This excellent recipe comes out perfect every time with little fuss and inexpensive ingredients you probably have on hand. This recipe is truly restaurant quality... try it, you won't be disappointed! ( The sauce recipe is courtesy of "Reykjaviky" at Allrecipes.com)

My first recipe here :) I threw this together a couple of days ago, as I found some beautiful fresh Fennel and some stunning fresh chicken legs. The idea was to mix my mothers stunning recipe for Spanish garlic chicken with the fresh fennel and give that a little Italian twist.
