My sister sent me this recipe and the delectable smell of this hearty yet elegant dish brings my teenage boys running!

There's an easy to find (and make) kids meal out there on the web called Cowboy Casserole, which uses sausages and beans... I decided to make it for Leo yesterday and also to make a slightly different version for myself. I altered the recipe and gave it a Spanish twist - hence the name. This is a good one for a cold day.

A very tasty, one pot casserole in a rich gravy. Comfort food and very moorish!

Sweet, tender rabbit meat is perfect in casseroles, and makes a great alternative to the usual chicken.

Don't let the 'five hour' in the title of this recipe scare you - this stew is so easy to make. Just give it time on the hob and you'll be rewarded with a slow cooked flavour that can't be replicated any other way.

This is a recipe passed on from my late mother-in-law. My husband enjoys any leftovers on a sandwhich the next day.

Venison is low in fat and, like all red meat, provides plenty of iron and minerals. It makes a mouth-watering casserole when cooked with beer and winter vegetables. For the best flavour choose a real ale or one of the popular ‘designer’ beers.

Juniper berries and orange flavour the sauce, while walnuts contribute a satisfying crunch to this excellent winter casserole. It is served with a warming mash of carrots, parsnips and potatoes – perfect with the pheasant.

A family favourite. I don't even like chops and I like this recipe! I ran out of plum jam for this recipe once and used apricot instead. It still tasted good. I normally leave out the celery.

Its cold outside. Warm yourself up with this rich hearty casserole. The red wine is optional, but you'd be daft to take it out!

Here full-flavoured pork sausages, a generous portion of vegetables and tender macaroni simmer together in a red wine sauce, to make a delicious, hearty, healthy one-pot meal.

This sausage casserole is perfect for when you want to use up those peppers in the fridge (or anything else that's in there).

Great for winter. Pop it in the oven and then just walk away till it's ready! Easy! You can add extra ingredients like whole new potatoes, parsnips and/or turnips.

Based on a classic French dish called navarin, this is a delectable stew. In France it is made in spring, as a celebration of the new season's lamb and the delicate young vegetables. Serve with a dish of freshly cooked spring greens, and hand round a basket of crusty French bread.

This colourful vegetable casserole is finished with a fresh and punchy mixture of parsley, garlic, lemon zest and toasted almonds, and served with fluffy Parmesan polenta. Touches like these can transform a simple vegetable dish into a feast for the eye and palate.
