A deliciously seasoned broad bean, onion and tomato spread. This recipe is inspired by a dish traditionally served with pitta bread for breakfast in Egypt. A great way to use broad beans when they're in season, but feel free to use frozen when they're not.

There are many versions of Welsh rarebit (or rabbit). The one here is richly flavoured with mature Cheddar cheese and thickened with breadcrumbs to add texture, and is spooned over thinly sliced red onions before being grilled until golden and bubbling. A spinach, apple and celery salad is the perfect partner.

One of my favourite dishes when I head back home; it combines hard-boiled eggs with the subtle flavour of anise and the deep brown hues of black tea and soy. The cracked patterns from the broken shells make these quite attractive! I eat these sliced in quarters and chilled as a side dish, starter or snack. Recipe courtesy of Mum.

This is a very easy recipe, requiring no sugar thermometer and no sensitive tempering of the chocolate. Make several to give as a homemade food gift or to include in a Christmas hamper.

This is pure heaven - well I think so anyway! It's sweet, melts in your mouth but is not chewy. This version is flavoured with chocolate and it makes a great gift. I always make some for my daughter's teachers at Christmas.

These flapjacks have fibre from the oats and protein from the peanut butter - but your kids will just call them delicious! A great snack for kids when you want to give them something sweet that's still nutritious.

Lentils are blended until smooth with curry-scented spices like cumin, garlic and cayenne pepper. It's great served with naan or toasted pitta triangles.

Mayonnaise and mustard are mixed with mashed egg yolks to fill each half of boiled eggs. Great staple for a buffet table or picnic.

Another recipe passed down to me by my mother. A little retro, but always delicious!

Excellent for salads or on there own, as egg mayonaise. A creamy yellow yolk centre cooked to perfection with different grading of texture as you bite through the egg.

Delicate Vietnamese-style spring roll wrappers are filled with rice noodles, diced prawns, shredded carrot, lettuce and basil and dipped in warm hoi-sin sauce. You can buy the wrappers at an Asian supermarket.

This is a toffee I remember my mother making for birthday parties and school fetes. Its a jaw sticking long lasting toffee that you can suck on for hours.

Instead of meat, Glamorgan sausages are made with cheese, which, as the Welsh name suggests, should be Caerphilly. Celery has been added for lighter results.

I picked up this great alternative to devilled eggs from my brother Mark. You have to like avocados to enjoy this!

Bubble, bubble. Toil and trouble. This nibble is devilled eggs made to look like the eyeballs of a lizard. It a hit with the kids at my Halloween party. Watch them get eaten up at your party!

A low-cholesterol stuffed egg? Yes, indeed! Filled with a delicious blend of egg yolks, vegetables and spices, these are lighter and creamier than traditional devilled eggs, yet have a richer flavour.
