I adored black forest gateaux in the 70s and loved trifle so decided I would fuse the two. You can make it all from scratch but also easy to substitute ready made goods if you don't have the inclination. The ingredients are split to enable you to decide at each 'layer'.

This is one of my favourite desserts to make for company in the spring. It’s easy with store-bought sponge cake and it looks like it took hours to prepare with the candied fruit/ricotta filling and green tinted marzipan covering. Some variations use gelato instead of ricotta, but I prefer it best with ricotta.

This pretty cake is quick and easy, but still delicious and impressive. It is made by layering a sweetened soft cheese mixture, syrup-dipped sponge fingers and cherry jam.

Easy yet so delicious, this fresh fruit trifle combines my favourite trifle recipes to create a mouthwatering dessert. Use any fruits you wish - such as mangos or raspberries - to create your own culinary delight.

This recipe is over 100 years old. Use this pastry recipe for sweet pies and tarts. It makes enough pastry to line approximately four 23cm (9 in) pie dishes or tart tins.

Here is a simple, speedy yet utterly luxurious slant on the delectable Italian dessert of coffee and liqueur-flavoured sponge topped with a creamy mascarpone layer and dusted with chocolate. Delicious!

These are beautiful little desserts perfect to serve for company. A ready-made Madeira cake makes it simple and the cream/nut mixture in the middle is absolutely delicious.

This recipe makes 12 individual tarts - but you will need to either buy or make the pastry shells first. Top with whipped cream or custard for a heavenly summer dessert!
