This relish has a great flavour, especially with the addition of celery. It goes well on leftover turkey in a sandwich on Boxing Day. Chopped nuts can be added if desired.

This recipe is for making your own liqueur but be patient - it takes a few weeks before you can use it. You will need a wide neck jar for this too. You get the added bonus of some deliciously preserved boozy apricots too. Eat the fruit separately, warmed through and served with brandy snaps and ice cream.

These blueberry martinis are the hit of any party! Easy to make, but the key is the homemade blueberry vodka that requires 2 weeks to properly infuse. After that, it's smooth and fruity sailing with a splash of lime juice!

A variation on the classic Middle Eastern salad, Tabbouleh, this delicious dish made with cracked wheat makes a healthy light lunch or supper.

Made using the peel of the pineapple. Tasty drink using what would otherwise be thrown.

This unusual, velvety soup is actually Parma ham with melon in a new guise.

This recipe is a lovely alternative to the standard sponge trifle at Christmas. It is an attractive layered dessert. This recipe uses a shop-bought Christmas pudding and a tub of premium custard. Christmas cake works well too but it is not as moist.

A versatile recipe that can be used in other desserts, or eaten on its own. For a Christmas touch, add some cinnamon and nutmeg.

Easy yet so delicious, this fresh fruit trifle combines my favourite trifle recipes to create a mouthwatering dessert. Use any fruits you wish - such as mangos or raspberries - to create your own culinary delight.

This tangy, soft-textured yogurt cheese, flavoured with herbs and garlic, makes a healthy starter or snack, and is a great addition to a picnic basket, too. The garlic is blanched for a sweeter flavour. Serve with fresh vegetables for dipping, plus wholemeal bread, such as soda bread, to be spread with the cheese.

Use unwashed, organically grown red or purple grapes for this recipe. The white powder found on the skins of the grapes is used as homemade starter yeast for bread. If you wish, you can switch to plain flour on the fifth day. The starter is fully active and ready to use in nine days.

This pud finished my Burns supper last year. Best served with my sweet wafers.

Here is a classic mincemeat recipe without any suet. You can mix up the dried fruits a bit, substituting dried cranberries, cherries or blueberries for some of the raisins and sultanas. Perfect for your mince pies at Christmas!

Delicious served with crispy poppadoms as a starter! They should be chilled for at least 24hrs before serving, allowing the lemon juice to neutralise the onion slightly.

Paper-thin slices of cucumber are marinated in yoghurt, garlic, lemon juice and dill. For best results, prepare this delicious Mediterranean-style starter a day before to maximize the flavour.

A homemade Christmas cake deserves homemade marzipan, and making it couldn't be easier. This is a purist's marzipan recipe, but you could also experiment by adding a touch of cinnamon, nutmeg or even orange or lemon zest.

Making your own muesli avoids the added sugar and salt often found in commercial brands, and also guarantees a much better texture and flavour.
