This is a very versatile Indian curry sauce that can be served as a main course with meats and/or vegetables or as a sauce for dipping or to spice up veggie side dishes. It's great on a jacket potato.

The old German classic Christmas and winter warmer. Boozy, spicy and indulgent. Similar to the British mulled wine. Great at a Christmas dinner party or for Bonfire Night as a winter warmer.

Bisschopswijn, meaning 'bishop's wine', is the Dutch version of the German gluehwein, a hot drink for snowy holidays that makes you glow inside. Don't drink this if you have to drive tonight! Each household has its own variety, this is the one my Dutch neighbors used to make when I was a kid in Amsterdam, for Christmas and New Year's Eve.

This is a flavourful curry sauce from a recipe given to me by an Indian friend. It's great with chickpeas or vegetables. This sauce also freezes beautifully.

OK, it's not entirely authentic but it's a good version to make with store-cupboard ingredients. Serve with cooked chicken, rice or tortillas, salad greens, sliced avocado and chopped tomatoes round out this fresh tasting meal.

Hot sauce from scratch. You may use fresh jalapeños if you can find them.

These marshmallows are the real thing - so much better than store bought. They are gorgeous in a mug of drinking chocolate, mixed into a homemade chocolate ice cream recipe or simply eaten on their own!
