This is just like traditional Christmas pudding, but with less fat. The house smells great all day long. It's wonderful served with rum or cranberry sauce.

The last Sunday before Advent is often called ‘Stir up Sunday’. Christmas puddings are best made a month or so before the big day itself so the mixture has time to fully mature. Traditionally, the whole family takes a turn at stirring the Christmas pudding, whilst making a wish. Another popular ritual is to add a coin or a sixpence into the mix. Whoever finds it on his or her plate on Christmas Day is brought abundant wealth and happiness!

Follow this recipe carefully and you will be rewarded with comforting, fluffy and tasty Chinese steamed buns. "Hom Bao" refers to any filled Chinese buns, but if you want to fill these with traditional barbecue pork filling before steaming, follow the recipe for Char Siu Bao, also on this site.

I got this classic Christmas pudding recipe from my beloved mum. She made this pudding every Christmas, and now I'm happy to share it with you.

I received this recipe about 40 years ago from a friend who said it had been in her family for generations. It comes out wonderfully moist and flavourful. I have given it as Christmas gifts many times and it's always very well received.

Hearty traditional puds are back in fashion and are ideal on chilly days. This steamed sponge dotted with currants and served with a warm lemony syrup is a real treat.

This is a lighter version of the delicious traditional pudding. The richly flavoured meat filling is mixed with sweet root vegetables and the herbed pastry is made with light vegetable suet.

In this fragrant, fresh-tasting dish, sea bass fillets are sprinkled with rice wine and steamed, then served with a Chinese-style black bean sauce flavoured with ginger, garlic and soy. Serve it with herbed brown rice.

A traditional pudding from West Sussex. Add sultanas or raisins to the filling to make Kentish Puddle Pudding. Warning: don't eat this if you're on a diet!

This is a fairly basic Christmas plum pudding recipe but unlike other recipes it can actually have plums in it. Unfortunately the ingredient list is so long it isn't easy to make it in less than industrial quantities! This could prove fortunate, however, as they make great food gifts. You can substitute a mixture of fresh and dried apricots of peaches for the plums if you wish.
