Make this sweet almondy cake when fresh rhubarb is in season. This recipe makes two cakes so you can give one away.

This is a basic fruit muffin recipe. I use chopped apples, but any type of fruit may be added to make a quick and easy batch of fruit muffins.

Make the most of aromatic, golden apricots when they're in season by using them in this attractive tart. It has a sweet orange shortcrust base and is topped with a crumbled flapjack-style mixture of oats, sultanas, hazelnuts and seeds. Serve slightly warm for dessert or with morning coffee or afternoon tea. The recipe for sweet shortcrust pastry is separate. Look in the notes section for how to make orange sweetcrust pastry.

This is moist and delicious with loads of banana flavour! Friends and family love my banana bread - it's wonderful toasted, too. Once you taste this, you'll never throw away those ripe bananas again!

Make these scones in the autumn when firm, sweet blackberries are in season. The addition of buttermilk to the mixture ensures the result is light and flaky. Serve fresh from the oven for a deliciously different tea-time scone.

A chocolate version of an Italian favourite. You can substitute milk for the water in the egg wash, if you wish.

Naturally sweet and moist, these make a great addition to a packed lunch. They are also a good way of getting the family to try some more unusual grains and seeds, and add new healthy ingredients to the diet.
