I got this recipe from Sharon, a flatmate at my university, who got it from her Gran. Her Gran was an amazing cook who never needed to weigh anything! Luckily, Sharon had made her write this one down. I know you can get these at nearly every bakery in the high street but they are relatively simple to make and well worth the effort.

A great way to combine buttery shortbread with creamy fudged topped off with dark rich chocolate. I made this dish as an experiment which turned out to be a huge hit with family and friends. The dish has three parts; first is the creation of the shortbread, second is making the creamy fudge layer and finally the addition of the dark chocolate topping.

Delicious caramel shortcake, not too rich and easy to make. A shortbread crust is covered with a caramel layer and then with dark chocolate.

This classic recipe will have everyone in your house pleading for just one more. Shortbread base... caramel centre... milk chocolate top... should we keep going? If you'd like to know how to make them, we probably should!
