A simple, yet delicious Chinese dish. Duck is stir-fried with garlic, onions, beansprouts and peppers. Serve with freshly cooked white rice, for lunch or dinner. Enjoy!
Fab spicy, sour and sweet duck curry. This is a recipe I am rather proud of. One of my favourite Thai restaurants in Australia made a fab duck curry and when I moved to the UK I really wanted to reproduce it. After several attempts and failures I think I have now got this right. It was a great challenge trying to 'guess the ingredients'. Hope you like it.
Kumquats are a small citrus fruit, like an orange, but the whole fruit is edible, adding a great tangy flavour to this easy stir-fry dish. Kumquats are believed to symbolise good fortune in the Far East.
A full-flavoured, bitter-sweet mixture of duck with rhubarb and orange makes a tasty dressing for penne or rigatoni, showing that a modest portion of meat goes a long way with the right pasta in an interesting sauce. Crisp green vegetables complete this simple, but stylish, stir-fry.
Here, strips of duck are stir-fried in the Chinese fashion, with onions, water chestnuts, pak choy, bean sprouts and – a sweet touch – fresh pear. Very little oil is needed for a stir-fry, and adding lots of vegetables keeps the quantity of meat down. Serve with rice noodles or with plain boiled or steamed rice.
Zesty orange and warm chinese spices offset the rich taste of duck perfectly. Serve with rice or noodles for a healthy supper.
This isn't quite as fancy as the title makes out - you know in Tesco they do the 3 for £3 on noodles, stir fry veg pack and a sauce - well, that is really all this is - plus the duck! So it is egg noodles, the plum and hoisin sauce which is delicious and a vegetable mixture of spring greens, bean sprouts, carrot, broccoli, onion and pepper (we added mushrooms too). The duck breasts were from a pack from Costco, and I have never cooked duck until last night so I was a little concerned... The meat was tender though and the fat crisp, so it turned out well and of course went perfectly with the stir fry. This is a perfect stir fry if you want something a little more special than just chunks of chicken or pork.
