Greek rice pudding is simple, comforting and delicious. Some in Greece make it with eggs, but my aunt prefers without. Best enjoyed cold - if you can wait that long!
Despite the name - Pasta flora - this is not a pasta dish! Pasta flora is actually a well loved Greek jam tart, made with whatever jam you fancy. Greeks aren't big on breakfast, but a slice of this is a favourite mid-morning. Instead of the vanilla, you can use brandy for an authentic Greek touch. Jams that work well for pasta flora? Try apricot, plum, strawberry or fig for starters!
This is a Mediterranean sweet made from deep-fried dough balls, which are soaked in a honey syrup with cinnamon. Enjoy these immediately.
This is a recipe that my mum got from a colleague and would make regularly when I was young. Galaktoboureko is a traditional Greek dessert made with a custard in a crispy filo pastry shell. After all these years it is still a family favourite. I hope that everyone enjoys it as much as we do.
This traditional Greek baklava has layers of tender filo pastry with a walnut filling and is coated in a spiced syrup. This delicious recipe was passed from my Yia Yia to her daughter-in-law (my mother) to me. I've added a few extra tips at the end!
