Dad's haroset

    40 min

My dad makes this easy haroset every year for Passover. Apples, pecans, walnuts, kosher wine and cinnamon is all you need to make this delicious Passover dish.

    4 people made this

    Serves: 4

    • 3 apples - peeled, cored and diced
    • 100g walnuts, chopped
    • 120g pecans, chopped
    • 250ml kosher red wine (such as Manischewitz)
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

    Prep:10min  ›  Extra time:30min chilling  ›  Ready in:40min

    1. Stir the apples, walnuts, pecans and wine together in a large bowl. Season with cinnamon, stir and refrigerate until chilled, about 30 minutes.

This is great and exactly like my "Mom's Best Haroset" just without the pecans. My mom has passed away 4 years ago and Passover has never been the same without her haroset. Thanks for the memory.  -  01 Apr 2010  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)

I will be making this this year on Holy Thursday (my traditional commemoration), but I will be using Pomegranate Juice instead of Wine. We have alcoholics in our family, and there will be children there for dinner, too. I'm thinking that I'll use only 1 kind of Nuts (probably the Pecans, since I still have some left-over from Christmas Pecan Pie baking ) and that I'll toss in some Raisins or Craisins for just that additional "something" that will make it perfect.  -  30 Mar 2015  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
