    About this recipe: A simple lemon sauce made with butter, flour, milk and lemon. It's lightly spiced with cayenne pepper.

    Serves: 8 

    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • 4 teaspoons all-purpose flour
    • 175ml milk
    • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

    1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and stir until smooth. Gradually stir in milk; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat, and stir in lemon juice, salt, and cayenne pepper.

    made this to go with salmon as it looked good, I didnt have nay cayan but added some chilli powder for a kick. The decided to add some french wholgrain mustard made a good sauce not amazing but nice with a rich fish  -  09 Jul 2012

    I sauteed some garlic in the butter before adding the flour. I also added some dill weed. This was delicious on salmon cakes. This sauce is quick to make, but have all your ingredients out and ready to go. It thickens quickly once you add the flour and milk.  -  01 Oct 2007  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
