About this recipe:These sweets are traditionally served for Jewish holidays. They have substantial amounts of poppy seeds, almonds and honey in them. Make a batch and you will love them. These sweets are also ideal as gifts.
Makes: 30 to 40 sweets
100g caster sugar
1 tablespoon tahini
550g poppy seeds
425g almonds, chopped

In a saucepan, combine the sugar, honey, tahini and poppy seeds. Stirring constantly, cook the mixture over a low heat until thick, about 30 minutes. Add the nuts and stir well.
Wet a wooden board and pour the mixture onto it. Pat down the mixture with your hands (careful it's hot) or a wet spatula until the slab is about 1.25cm thick. Let cool. Slice with a wet knife into diamond shape pieces.
