    About this recipe: These sweets are traditionally served for Jewish holidays. They have substantial amounts of poppy seeds, almonds and honey in them. Make a batch and you will love them. These sweets are also ideal as gifts.

    Makes: 30 to 40 sweets

    • 100g caster sugar
    • 700g honey
    • 1 tablespoon tahini
    • 550g poppy seeds
    • 425g almonds, chopped

    1. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, honey, tahini and poppy seeds. Stirring constantly, cook the mixture over a low heat until thick, about 30 minutes. Add the nuts and stir well.
    2. Wet a wooden board and pour the mixture onto it. Pat down the mixture with your hands (careful it's hot) or a wet spatula until the slab is about 1.25cm thick. Let cool. Slice with a wet knife into diamond shape pieces.
