About this recipe: This slow cooker recipe will transform a dull piece of chicken into a flavoursome piece of meat. The chicken is shredded and served with a homemade barbecue sauce in a sandwich roll. It's like the American classic pulled pork, except made with chicken. You can also serve the chicken over rice.

Makes: 8 sandwiches

  • 4 large skinless, boneless chicken breast fillets
  • 250ml ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic granules
  • 125ml maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 dashes hot sauce or to taste
  • 8 rolls or baps, split

nice, had to use golden syrup instead of maple. Didn't need 6 hrs though mine was ready at 5hrs. Had it with mash and enjoyed it. - 06 Jan 2012
