1 French baguette, sliced into 24 pieces
1 tablespoon butter, softened
200g fresh strawberries, sliced and chopped
4 tablespoons caster sugar, or as needed

Preheat the grill. Spread a thin layer of butter on each slice of bread. Arrange bread slices in a single layer on a large baking tray.
Place bread under the grill for 1 to 2 minutes, just until lightly toasted. Spoon some chopped strawberries onto each piece of toast, then sprinkle sugar over the strawberries.
Place under the grill again until sugar is caramelised, 3 to 5 minutes. Serve immediately.
loved it however i found that grilling for an extra 5 minutes burnt the crust of the bread so i used a blowtorch for about 20 seconds seems to have done the trick but nice twist on a classic - 10 May 2012
