About this recipe: This is a delicious way to enjoy cabbage. Hearty, satisfying and healthy too! Feel free to change the kinds of beans used to your liking.


Serves: 8 

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (400g) tin pinto beans
  • 1 (400g) tin kidney beans
  • 1 (400g) tin chopped tomatoes
  • 1 (330g) tin sweetcorn, drained
  • 1 (600g) jar passata
  • 200ml water
  • 1 small white cabbage, shredded
  • 2 carrots, grated
  • salt and black pepper to taste

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook mince and onion until brown; drain.
  2. Return mince to pan with pinto beans, kidney beans, tomatoes, sweetcorn, passata, water, cabbage, carrots and seasoning. Simmer over low heat 1 hour.
