Beef and rice casserole

    This is a complete meal in one dish. Seasoned rice is topped with white sauce and a beef ragu, before being baked to perfection. Simple, hearty and delicious.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 clove garlic, grated
    • 20g butter
    • butter, for greasing
    • chopped fresh parsley to serve
    • grated cheese to serve

    1. Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6. Grease a baking dish with butter.
    2. Mix together the rice, salt, garlic, butter and tomato ketchup. Transfer to prepared dish.
    3. Pour over white sauce, followed by the beef in tomato sauce.
    4. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes or until a little browned. Sprinkle with parsley and cheese to serve.

    I think this recipe is brill. I substituted my own cheesy sauce instead of the white sauce and I am currently waiting for it in the oven, shall let you know how it tastes :D It was good :D  -  05 Feb 2013


    The only things that I didn't understand while cooking this is how much meat sauce and tomato sauce are needed, and is it really 300deg Celsius for the oven?  -  05 Oct 2012  (Review from Allrecipes AU | NZ)
