About this recipe: This soup is hearty and packed full of flavour. Bacon is simmered with beans in a curry-spiced tomato soup base. Enjoy with crusty bread, if desired.


Makes: 2 - 4 servings

  • 1 (400g) tin mixed beans
  • 1 (400g) tin chopped tomatoes
  • 2 litres chicken stock
  • 100g diced bacon
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam marsala
  • seasoning to taste

Prep:5min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:20min 

  1. Put chicken stock into large saucepan. Add beans and tomatoes.
  2. Bring to a strong boil and add all spices except garam marsala. Boil and reduce by 1/3.
  3. Check seasoning and add garam marsala. Simmer for about 5 minutes. Serve.
