Creamy Apple, Cinnamon and Sultana Porridge

About this recipe: This is a little too sweet to have every morning, but it's a nice treat now and again!

Ingredients
Serves: 2 

  • 450ml (16 fl oz) water
  • 1 dessertspoon dark brown soft sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 75g (3 oz) uncooked porridge oats
  • handful sultanas
  • 1 apple - peeled, cored and diced

Method
Prep:5min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:15min 

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, brown sugar, cinnamon and syrup. Heat mixture to a boil.
  2. When water is at a boil, reduce heat and add oats. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until all water is soaked by the oats. Remove from heat, stir in apples and sultanas and serve.

Altered ingredient amounts. We tend to like our porridge chunky rather than watery or creamy. I added a few more raisins, more cinnamon, more syrup and 1 t butter to each serving. Perfect! - 07 Aug 2008
