About this recipe: These moist chocolately treats are quick and easy to make. They are perfect for kid's packed lunches, for afternoon tea or elevenses.


Makes: 12 bars

  • 220g dark brown soft sugar
  • 125g self-raising flour
  • 35g desiccated coconut
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 125g melted butter
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

Prep:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min 

  1. Heat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
  2. Combine sugar, self-raising flour, coconut and cocoa in a large bowl. Stir in butter and egg.
  3. Spread mixture into a a greased 20cm x 30cm or similar sized baking tin. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges.
  4. Cool, then cut into slices.
