    About this recipe: This alcoholic apple drink is perfect for the cold winter months. Apple juice is simmered with ginger ale and brown sugar, then blended with whisky, spiced rum and stored with cinnamon sticks. Serve warm or cold.

    Serves: 28 

    • 3.75 litres apple juice
    • 2 (1 litre) bottles cold ginger ale
    • 220g dark brown soft sugar
    • 475ml whisky
    • 475ml spiced rum
    • 3 (7.5cm) sticks cinnamon

    1. In a large pot, combine the apple juice, ginger ale and dark brown soft sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes.
    2. Cool to room temperature. Stir in the whisky and spiced rum and let stand for 1 hour.
    3. Pour into 3.75 litre jugs or containers and place a cinnamon stick in each one. Cover and store until serving. This can be served warm, but don't heat too much or the alcohol will burn off.
