    About this recipe: This is an unusual, but exceptionally tasty chilli dish. Turkey mince is simmered with peppers, tomatoes, pumpkin and seasonings. Serve with Cheddar and soured cream. This dish goes perfectly with freshly boiled rice or over jacket potatoes. It's the perfect winter warmer.

    Serves: 6 

    • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    • 160g chopped onion
    • 75g chopped green pepper
    • 75g chopped yellow pepper
    • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
    • 450g minced turkey
    • 1 (400g) tin chopped tomatoes
    • 500g pumpkin puree
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons chilli powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
    • 1 dash salt
    • 60g grated Cheddar cheese
    • 125ml soured cream

    1. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat and saute the onion, green pepper, yellow pepper and garlic until tender.
    2. Stir in the turkey and cook until evenly brown. Drain and mix in tomatoes and pumpkin.
    3. Season with chilli powder, pepper and salt. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 20 minutes. Serve topped with Cheddar cheese and soured cream.
