Carrot, papaya and passion fruit smoothie

About this recipe: An exotic, healthy smoothie with unexpected ingredients. If you can't find any fresh papayas and passion fruits, it can also be made with juice from a carton. Fresh papaya is ripe and ready to use when it's gone yellow and is slightly wrinkly.


Serves: 4 

  • 1 papaya
  • 400ml carrot juice
  • 4 passion fruits
  • 2 tablespoons wheatgerm
  • ice cubes

  1. Cut the papaya in half and scrape out seeds with a spoon. Peel the papaya and chop the flesh coarsely. Puree in blender with the carrot juice.
  2. Cut the passion fruits half and strain the pulp through a sieve so that the seeds are left behind.
  3. Add the passion fruit juice and wheatgerm to the papaya-carrot mixture. Mix everything and pour immediately over ice cubes in glasses.
