Coffee cream pots

    This is a creamy and cool coffee flavoured dessert that actually tastes much more sinful than it actually is. Serve in ramekins or dessert glasses for a pretty presentation. The recipe does not require much work, you just need to prepare it in advance so that it has time to set - perfect for parties.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 sachet gelatine
    • 3 tablespoons cold water
    • 500ml milk
    • 2 heaped teaspoons instant coffee granules
    • 4 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 25-50g grated plain chocolate
    • 125ml double cream

    1. Mix gelatine with 3 tablespoons cold water and allow to swell.
    2. Bring the milk to the boil. Add the gelatine to the hot milk and stir until it is dissolved. Stir the coffee granules, sugar and vanilla into the milk and remove from heat. Allow to cool to room temperature, then chill in the fridge.
    3. Once the mixture thickens, fold in the grated chocolate and the whipped cream. Pour the cream in to ramekins or serving glasses and chill till thoroughly set.

    What a find! Very easy to put together and tasted amazing! Definitely my new 'go to' dessert recipe. I added an extra teaspoon of coffee granules as I prefer a strong coffee flavour. I accidentally let my coffee mixture set (rather than just thicken) so poured in the cream, added chocolate and whipped together instead of folding two together. It worked well thank goodness. The texture was great and the flavour just perfect too!  -  19 Oct 2016
