About this recipe: One of my favourites - on a really cold winter's night there's nothing better than this pasta bake in my opinion. It's super easy and cheap to make, and something that all the family is sure to enjoy.

Serves: 2

  • 250g penne pasta
  • 40g butter
  • 120g ham, cubed
  • 200ml soured cream
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 80g Emmentaler or Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 1 handful chopped fresh parsley

  1. Cook the pasta according to packet instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 220 C / Gas 7.
  3. Heat the butter in a large pan. Add the ham and fry for a few minutes over a medium heat until crispy. Add the pasta, mix everything well and remove the pan from the heat.
  4. Mix the soured cream, a pinch of salt, pepper and the egg and add the egg mixture to the pasta and stir well.
  5. Pour the mixture into a buttered casserole dish and sprinkle cheese over the top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 until golden-brown on top. Garnish with plenty of parsley to serve.
