Vanilla Custard

    This homemade custard tastes especially delicious with lightly sugared strawberries! Though you can serve this custard alongside any of your favourite puddings and desserts. The vanilla bean makes it extra-special.

    Serves: 10 

    • 1 vanilla bean
    • 350ml milk
    • 25g cornflour
    • 1 egg yolk
    • 200g whipping cream
    • 50g sugar
    • 1 pinch of salt

    1. Cut open the vanilla bean from top to bottom and scrape out the seeds.
    2. Beat together 90ml of the milk, cornflour and egg yolks. Bring the remaining milk, whipped cream, vanilla seeds, scraped vanilla bean, sugar and salt to the boil in a pan. Beat in the cornflour mixture with a whisk, bring to the boil again and remove from the heat. Allow to cool slightly.
