Bring the raspberries to the boil in a small pan to draw out the juice. Strain through a sieve and add sugar to the juice to taste (you can also prepare the sauce whenever you like and reheat it later).
Put two scoops of vanilla ice cream into a sundae glass and pour the hot sauce over it. If you like, add whipped cream. Serve immediately.
