Tofu with Sesame Sauce

    This tofu dish is quick and easy to make and tastes fab! Blanched tofu is tossed with a sauce made with sesame seed paste, sesame oil, Sichuan mustard tuber and seasonings.

    Makes: 2 

    • 150g silken tofu, cut into 1.5cm cubes
    • 3 1/2 tablespoons sesame seed paste (tahini)
    • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 50g tinned Sichuan mustard tuber, finely chopped
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
    • 1/8 teaspoon monosodium glutamate (MSG)

    1. Blanch the tofu for 1 minute and drain. Transfer tofu to a serving plate. Set aside.
    2. Make the sauce by mixing together the sesame seed paste and sesame oil in a bowl. Add the salt, finely chopped Sichuan mustard tuber sugar and MSG; mix well.
    3. Pour the sauce over the tofu and lightly toss. Serve.


    Tinned Sichuan mustard tuber and monosodium glutamate can be purchased in Chinese/Oriental speciality shops or online.
