This is my mother's recipe that was always a great success! It's really original and refreshing. You only need a few store bought ingredients to make this easy no-bake dessert.

4 eggs, separated
150g caster sugar
1 pot whipping cream, whipped
1 bottle toffee sauce
4 shop bought meringues

To make the filling: Place the egg yolks in a bowl and the egg whites in another bowl. Mix the egg yolks with the sugar until fluffy and white. Whisk the egg whites until stiff. Add the whipped cream to the yolk mixture. Then fold in the egg whites.
Lightly grease a cake tin. Place the meringues in a clean resealable bag, close it and crush the meringues. Add a layer of crushed meringues into the tin then a layer of filling, then a layer of toffee sauce and another layer of meringues again. Repeat the process again so you finish with meringue on top.
Put in the freezer (with aluminium foil and a plate on top) for at least 8 hours or overnight. Remove from the tin just before serving by dipping the bottom of the tin into hot water, then turning the cake over onto a serving plate.
