About this recipe:
This recipe is a simplified version of the classic French cake known as 'Millat Charentais' which typically contains Cognac. I learnt to make this delicious recipe when I was young.
180g caster sugar
2 tablespoons Cognac brandy (or rum)
150g plain flour
- Preheat oven to 150 C / Gas 2. Butter a pie dish about 5 cm deep. Sprinkle with flour.
- In a large bowl, combine the sugar with the eggs. Add the rum, then the flour in one go. Whisk until smooth. Gradually stir in milk.
- Pour the batter into the pie dish and bake until the cake is brown, or about 1 hour.
