Honey and Ginger Pork Chops

    This recipe has been enjoyed by our family for years now. A great midweek supper with a baked potato and green veg.

    Serves: 6 

    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 6 boneless pork loin chops
    • 3 tablespoons honey
    • 100ml (4 fl oz) water
    • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 1 small onion, chopped
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

    1. Preheat oven to 160 C / Gas mark 3.
    2. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat, and brown the pork chops about 5 minutes on each side. Transfer to a baking dish
    3. In a bowl, mix the honey, water, soy sauce, onion, ginger and pepper. Pour over the pork chops in the baking dish.
    4. Bake pork chops 1 hour in the preheated oven, to an internal temperature of 70 C.

    Took Keri's thought and replaced a spoon of soya and some water for port. I'm thinking as a marinade or in a slow crock it might be better but made a good lunch  -  14 Dec 2011


    I thought that this was nice,but next time i think i'll leave out the 'water' as i think this took away alot of the flavour!  -  18 Sep 2010
